Two Goldfinches on Thistles

Two Goldfinches on Thistles was inspired by David Gordon’s photo taken of  Warren Farm, a local nature reserve which is threat of being repurposed. It is part of a series of paintings of birds seen in the reserve, to highlight the importance of preserving wildlife, especially with urban surroundings. I used my knowledge of Japanese Paintings to help influence the composition and colour scheme. It is one of a series of Japanese inspired watercolours of birds.

This collection has been inspired by my love of nature and wildlife. I hope it reminds people of the importance and beauty of nature for our physical and mental wellbeing.

I have done similar paintings such as Goldfinches on Thistles in the Mist, Goldfinch on Thistles and Kingfisher on bamboo.
