Goldfinch and Thistle

Goldfinches on Thistles was inspired by David Gordon’s photo taken of  Warren Farm, a local nature reserve which is threat of being repurposed. Goldfinches on Thistles is part of a series of paintings of birds seen in the reserve, to highlight the importance of preserving wildlife, especially with urban surroundings. I was also inspired by Japanese Paintings to help influence the composition and colour scheme. It is one of a series of Japanese inspired watercolours of birds.

My love of nature and wildlife is at the heart of this his collection. I hope it reminds people of the importance and beauty of nature for our physical and mental wellbeing.

Other similar paintings include Goldfinches on Thistles in the Mist and Kingfisher on bamboo.
