Deer at Sunrise in Bushy Park, watercolour

Deer at Sunrise in Bushy Park captures the beauty of the deer early in the morning in Autumn.

It is one in a series of sunrise and sunset paintings in Bushy Park and Richmond Park, such as Sunset over the stream.Inspiration

My walks at sunrise in Bushy Park, close to Leg of Mutton Pond, inspired this painting.

Bushy Park is in South West London, especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset. In addition, it is a wonderful and very open place to walk and is great for wildlife. You can find herds of deer, numerous species of birds and ancient woodlands and winding waterways.

I aimed to evoke the park’s tranquil beauty. I used a range of watercolour techniques – salt and splattering paint to create captivating textures that enhance the scene. Consequently, this has helped to create a granular quality to the depiction of the grass and trees, adding depth and dimension to the artwork.

Whether displayed in a home or office, Deer at Sunrise in Bushy Park aims to bring tranquility to the viewer . It shows off the beauty of one of London’s most beloved green spaces.
