Safe Space is part of the charity MIND, providing crisis support in hubs in Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow. It is an excellent new initiative set up just over a year ago and has been hugely beneficial for me when in or near crisis.
Instead of going to A & E in crisis, I could go to my local hub, which is calm and relaxing and where I could talk to someone who cares and listens, or just do some artwork or writing while feeling safe.
Because it was so helpful for me, I was so excited to be given a chance to help others by creating an art group once a month where people could drop in or book in advance.
No previous knowledge of art is required. It is a non-judgmental space, where people can hopefully realise the joy and benefits of creating artwork while not mentally being in a good place.
