I create calming, atmospheric watercolours inspired by real places, with the intent to express feelings and moods, rather than just factual records of places.

My work is about connection. Where my emotions and memories connect with the land, where the land connects with the sky, and where the sky takes me elsewhere.

One of my influences is Japanese art. The sun and moon feature strongly, which for me symbolise hope, renewal and stillness.

I experiment to learn more about myself.

Be it using metallic leaf connecting stillness with moments of energy and colour, or interweaving fragments of childhood letters from my mum who is now living with dementia, you’ll find me in every painting.
